*| Courtney Graduated!

Last weekend my sister Courtney graduated from Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara. Below are some of my favorite pieces of hers, though her latest and not yet internet published work is the best I’ve seen. Now she’s finally coming home where we can properly take over the world together.

I’m proud of you sis.

*| Farrah

The wonderful Farrah Fawcett as Jill Munroe in Charlie’s Angels. Rather than mourn her loss, I propose we celebrate her life. What better way to remember her than kicking ass in a roller derby match?

*| Lost In Pacific Time...

Lost In Pacific Time With The Sound Of A Dial Tone.

He pictures her. Alone. Half the world away. Knees pressed against her chest, breath fogging the 47th floor window pane. On the elevator down to one, do you count the floors, or the eyes that caught yours?

“I’m just a phone call away,” you said.

Cursive - Driftwood: A Fairy Tale

Certainly one of the most influential bands in my life, Cursive delivers their masterpiece fondly known as “The Ugly Organ”. Largely responsible for my drab, poignant, realist approach to lyric (probably more prevalent in my bleeding heart “wimpy” prose), Tim Kasher strikes a vital nerve for me on this album. I’m also (to this very day) still enthralled by Domestica, their previous full length piece. I hope you appreciate, and if not, no offense. I’ll never pull my punches. DISCUSS.

“SHE KNEW ABOUT THOSE WOODEN BOYS. ITS THE EMPTY LOVE TO FILL THE VOID.”

*| Flosstradamus

Flosstradamus - Big Bills

My boy NICK SCIMECA just sent me the link to this video, and I had to post it… Thanks Flannigan!

Please ignore the advert in the beginning… ”How could you be so heartless?”

R.I.P. Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson!
Even though this is a 'The Academy Is...' fansite, I feel we should take time away from them to concentrate on this. I'll be putting up graphics later, but I feel I need to say how much I'll miss these two wonderful and amazing human beings.

Farrah being the amazing actress she was, is and will always be, one of the most beautiful and talented actresses in history. We would all know her from the "Charlie's Angels" t.v. series if you ever got the chance to see it. If I had them on DVD I'd be watching them right now. May she find peace and happiness among the skies and higher powers. I know she'll be looking down on all of us and inspiring those future actors and actresses to find their dreams. I love you, Farrah, and I'll miss you dearly.

Michael was and will always be one of the greatest legends in music. Even though we're into rock, and I'm into mostly metal, we should all recognize Michael, The King of Pop, as such. There aren't enough words to describe what an amazing musical influence he was to everyone like Farrah was to acting. May he finally find peace away from this crazy existence and be one with everything and everyone. He has surely inspired me and I'm sure many musicians of today and the future (i.e. Bert McCracken of The Used.). I will miss you dearly too, Michael, and I love you with all my heart.

As I type this, I have tears rolling down my cheeks and it's getting harder to type more, so I'll end this now.

R.I.P. To The Stars Of Yesteryear...

Beckett Blog: Video.
[link to video coming soon.]

I don’t know what it is particularly, but this is hilarious. Some one left this link in the comments from SNMC this past weekend… (Thanks ‘tennies’) Maybe I’m just a fan of Andy Samberg…

Love her or hate her, you have to admit the girl can dress.

Here’s to all the pissed off folks that bought a 3G phone two weeks ago.

I can’t decide between white or black… Has anyone picked up one of these yet? Thoughts?

nicholasscimeca:

This was sitting on my desk this morning. “oh, hi there!”

*| HAHAHA.

…THE F@#K?

Copy-Paste gone terribly wrong.

This is our band description on the SIX FLAGS WEBSITE. Let’s see how quickly this gets fixed, if at all.

“Excuse me Mister, I think you’ve got the wrong guy.”

*| SNMC Warm-Up.

Here’s a bit of a Saturday Night Music Club warmup for you. I’m on the west coast and about to run out to dinner, but I’ll have a fresh, new SNMC up for all in a couple hours. Consider this the amuse-bouche.

Regina Spektor - Laughing With

I’ve been a fan of Regina Spektor for a few years now, particularly blown away by her unique lyric and vocal phrasing/delivery. I heard this song (from her new album coming out this Tuesday) at my good friend Andrew McMahon’s house a few weeks back, which in turn inspired us to write a song together. Enjoy the video, let us know what you think, and come back in a couple hours for the main course.

*| Saturday Night Music Club #34
Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek

A wonderfully sparse, yet hauntingly emotive song from the album Speak For Yourself. We played at the MTVu Woodie Awards (and went home with one, pun inexplicably intended) a couple years ago and the show opened with a fantastic performance of this song. Entrancing, heart breaking, great lyric… I hope you enjoy, and at the very least appreciate. Regardless, DISCUSSION and recommendations are always encouraged.

Have a great Sunday!

1. The Smashing Pumpkins ~ 1979

Smashing Pumpkins - 1979

Such a perfect summer video.

2.
Sitting on my couch drinking vino, and appropriately enough, about to watch SIDEWAYS. I too refuse to drink merlot tonight! Not many people seem to like this this film as I do, (compared to say… Transformers), but curiosity remains. Have you seen this movie? Love it, hate it, loathe it, indifferent to it?

One thing is certain, however. Paul Giamatti is a first class actor. A “first clasctor”, if you will.

1. WTF?
I thought I posted a blog a few days ago, but it's not here. Did anyone see it? Weirdddd. Hopefully I'm not getting hacked. Then again, who cares! Hacking is the best compliment.

Well then, to re-cap. I lost my luggage a week ago, but thanks to some extremely special and important people, I got it back 2 days ago. a HUGE drop of sweat off of my brow. I said it. And I got my Ray Bans back. OH yes.

BUT I still plan on getting the new macbook pro, to run Logic. Anyone here use logic professionally? Just curious...

I think I may be getting my 2 new drumkits today! I'm sososososo excited! The only thing I'm not looking forward to is carrying 2-3 heavy boxes up 3 flights. It's a small price to pay, though.

What else what else. My main man Frank Carter comes back into town tomorrow. Gonna eat BIG burritos yall. Get some.

I'm almost prepared to begin a major personal process that everyone here will soon know. And I hope and pray that you love it. I start in Jersey City, this Friday. Send productive vibes please!

Here's a shot in the dark- Does anyone own or know someone who owns a "Roland Space Echo?" They were made quite a while ago, maybe 70s-80s? But I am very interested in buying/renting one, as well as making it equitable for all parties involved. If not, hey, no worries.

Okay then. I'm gonna rock.

2. maybe you can help...
so i'm looking for a toy i used to play with as a child.

it was called a "Whirl-a-Tune" tm.

Its just a corragated tube the you whirl around and it makes a whistling whooping sound.

Does anyone HAVE one of these?? I'll pay you for it!! I NEEED it!

or, has anyone seen it sold?

I've tried to use other corragated tubes from hardware stores, but no go.

Pleeeeeease hook me up!
